Google Analytics 4: e-commerce dimensions and metrics for customized reports.
Google Analytics 4 adds e-commerce dimensions and metrics to the custom reporting tool. This makes it possible to create e-commerce reports from scratch or modify existing standard reports. New dimensions include item information such as affiliation, brand, category, etc. New metrics include data on revenues, refunds, items added to cart, items purchased, etc. In addition, Google Analytics introduces new revenue metrics in explorations, and removes some redundant metrics. It is recommended to update existing explorations to use the new revenue metrics.

Google Analytics 360: increased length limit for event parameter values
For Google Analytics 360 properties, we have increased the length limit for event parameter values collected via the Google Analytics for Firebase SDK for mobile apps from 100 to 500 characters. Learn more about Google Analytics 360 data collection limits.

Google Analytics: the mobile application for your business
We're introducing a new recommendation to install the Google Analytics mobile app, which allows you to stay connected to your business on the go. The mobile app helps you monitor your business in real time, create your own reports and take action to improve your account. The new recommendation includes a QR code so you can easily find the mobile app in the Apple App Store (for iOS) or the Google Play Store (for Android).

Data federation between BigQuery and AWS Glue (Preview)
You can now create a federated dataset in BigQuery that federates with an existing database in AWS Glue. This feature is in preview version.

Drill down improved with Drill Actions
The Drill Actions update for tables offers an enhanced drilling experience for report creators and viewers. Report creators can now add multiple dimensions to allow users to drill up, down or toggle between dimensions to gain different perspectives on the data presented in tables. They can also set up drill-down links to external URLs to provide users with quick navigation to additional information on the data presented. Report viewers can also use these features to explore the data and access drill-down links to external sites.

Exporting user and device IDs to Google Analytics 4
With this update, you can export the user IDs and device IDs of users in an audience you've created in Google Analytics 4 using the Google Analytics v1 Data API. Previously, you could only send this information to direct integrations such as Google Ads or Firebase. The Google Analytics Audience Export API is available in alpha version for standard and 360 properties, with higher limits for 360 properties. To find out more, see our developer documentation.

BigQuery export to Bigtable (pre-release)
You can now use EXPORT DATA instructions to export BigQuery data directly to Bigtable. This feature is in pre-release.

BigQuery: Delta Lake support
BigQuery now natively supports the Delta Lake format for Amazon S3 and Azure tables. This feature is currently in pre-release. BigQuery ML has added a new residual column to the output of the ML.EXPLAIN_FORECAST function for ARIMA_PLUS and ARIMA_PLUS_XREG models. The residual column contains the difference between the actual time series and the time series adjusted for historical data. This allows you to compare the modeled historical data returned in the other output columns of ML.EXPLAIN_FORECAST with the actual historical data. To improve BigQuery ML's training performance, the APPROX_GLOBAL_FEATURE_CONTRIB argument now defaults to TRUE when you set the ENABLE_GLOBAL_EXPLAIN argument to TRUE, and you set the NUM_PARALLEL_TREE argument to a value greater than 10 for boosted tree models or greater than 50 for random forest models. BigQuery now supports the geographic function ST_LINEINTERPOLATEPOINT, which retrieves a point at a specific fraction in a linestring. This feature is generally available (GA).

BigQuery ML: ML.TRANSFORM preview and transformation models only.
The ML.TRANSFORM function and transformation-only templates are now available for preview in BigQuery ML. The ML.TRANSFORM function lets you pre-process data by applying transformations captured in the TRANSFORM clause of an existing template. Transformation-only templates apply pre-processing functions to input data and return pre-processed data. These models separate data pre-processing from model training, making it easy to capture and reuse a set of data pre-processing rules.

BigQuery: external tables with manifest files (GA)
BigQuery now supports the use of manifest files for external tables. This feature is now available in general availability (GA).

Improved automatic event collection in Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 improves the automatic collection of events from web data feeds to resolve a filtering issue for certain sub-properties. From now on, all first_visit and session_start events automatically collected from web data feeds will contain the same event parameters as the first event triggered by the client in a session. This means that these automatically collected events will be correctly filtered in or out of a sub-property for consistent and predictable reporting. You don't need to take any action to enable this, as this update will solve the problem in the future.
